Jane Gibbon

Jane Gibbon is Artistic Director of the Listowel School of Dance and Minto Dance Academy. She also is the choreographer for the Soundsations choir; and the co-founder of the Integrated Dance Artists Collective. She began her dance training at Listowel School of Dance where she trained extensively in the R.A.D. Ballet Syllabus. In 2001, she graduated with honours from the Ryerson University dance program, where she received the Theatre School award in 1999 and 2000 for obtaining the highest GPA. From 2001 until 2003, she maintained the role of Artistic Director at the Listowel School of Dance, for the modern division of the program as well as for two student performance groups. In 2004 she took over the ballet program at Listowel School of Dance and began as Artistic Director at Minto Dance Academy. She continues to oversee these programs. She is currently a student of the Royal Academy of Dance’s Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies Program. In addition to teaching, Jane has had an extensive performance and 
choreographic career. Ms. Gibbon’s performance credits include Filter and Extoll (1999), Summer Works Festival (2000), the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival (2001), Just Jazz (2001), Dusk Dances (2001), Broadway Unites - a Sept. 11th Benefit, Arts Week (2001), In Motion (2002 and 2003) Toe Jam (2002), Moving Foreword (2003) and OMO’s Choreographic Workshop (2003)the Toronto International Film Festival post-screening gala for The Company (2003), the Art of Excellence awards ceremony at the Art Gallery of Ontario (2003), Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend (2004), On the Verge (2004), York University’s graduate student showcase Aftermath (2003), Bound for the Tenderness of Eden, with pianist and composer Robert Bruce and at the University of Guelph’s Thursday at Noon concert series (2003). She has had the privilege of working with such choreographers as Michelle Debrower, Debbie Wilson, Coralee McLaren, Colleen Freidman, Vicki St. Denys and Robert Desrosiers. Her choreography has been included in many festivals and benefits as well as Choreographic Works 2001, Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, In Motion, Toe Jam and Moving Foreword, produced by IDAC. Her popular work Miles to Go was presented at fFIDA 2003 in the Studio Stage programme at Dancemakers Theatre. In October of 2003, she had the pleasure of presenting a new program at the Hamilton Place Studio Theatre in collaboration with composer Robert Bruce. She also had the privilege of working with him in November of 2004, for his newest production. In 2005 Ms. Gibbon took on the role of choreographer for the Teaswater Soundsations choir, and her new works were presented in their May production of A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock and Roll.
