Amy Lintunen

Hailing from Thunder Bay, ON, Amy has loved and practiced the art of dance since the age of eight. For ten years she was co-founder, director, instructor and choreographer for Spirit of Dance, where her work has been featured in Magic Music Days at Walt Disney World. Seizing the opportunity to dance abroad, Amy continued her studies at Pro Danza in Italy and a full year program in France at Off Jazz. Since moving to Toronto, Amy has performed with contemporary companies, Ismailova Theatre of Dance in Wings and Toyland and with The Parahumans in Charismatica and The 60 Minute Dance Improv. In 2012, Amy’s focus shifted to a more dedicated study of tap dance, with opportunities to perform at the Toronto Rhythm Initiative shows and at the Montreal Tap Festival. She has choreographed and co-created pieces for Talent Defined, 60 x 60, Tap into Jazz, Poetry Resurrected and annual year end shows with Tap Dance Centre and City Dance Corps. Amy has performed as a Tap Percussionist with The Red Rhythm, The Charlie Ringus Trio, and was a featured soloist with the Jason Raso Quartet in Jazz Goes to the Movies. This past season, she has performed at Dance Ontario, Island Tap, Pan Am Games, Bollywood Monster Mash Up, CP24 Breakfast and Tapperfest with “What’s On? Tap!”; an all female tap company directed by Kim Chalovich. Amy is continuing her studies in New York City at the American Tap Dance Foundation Tap Teacher Training Program.
