Dance lessons are a wonderful way for young children to be active and creative, and experience their first classroom environment. Our students are encouraged to become strong technical dancers while they explore and expand their creativity, and develop self-confidence.
Every lesson is focused on music, movement and fun! Our Pre-school Program teaches 3 and 4 year olds music and dance fundamentals through nursery rhymes, songs and games. Students enhance their coordination, locomotive and mental development. They explore movement possibilities and begin to develop body and space awareness through dance and play. Children not only have fun in this animated dance class, but also learn important skills that enable a logical and easy progression into building technique for future music and dance programs.
Adults and children alike will love building on a foundation of basic movements set to beautiful music as they grow their strength and abilities.
Students ages 5 and up learn to perfect their ballet technique following the style and syllabus of either the Society of Russian Ballet or the Royal Academy of Dance. Our focus is on developing classical technique, artistry and performance quality for a well-rounded classical ballet training experience.
Students who take ballet classes build self-control, body awareness and self discipline as they learn to master increasingly technical moves.

Acro is thrilling to learn. Students must commit to building their strength and foundation skills before progressing to more impressive moves. A combination of dance and acro, this class emphasizes strength, balance and flexibility to develop students’ physical abilities and spatial awareness. Headstands, handstands, cartwheels, rolls and walkovers are just some of the skills learned.
In Silks, students explore movement in the air using fabric (“silks”) and rope, and learn how to climb and manoeuvre circus skills on these apparatuses with our highly trained silks instructors, that take you from beginner all the way to advanced.
Classes take place in studios with sprung floors, and with added equipment and safety is always a priority. Introduce your child to the excitement of stretching, jumping and tumbling at Swansea School of Dance.
To participate in acro students must be enrolled in at least one other technique class: ballet, jazz, modern, tap or hip hop. To participate in Silks we highly recommend a 2nd class.
Lyrical is an excellent addition to your child’s schedule if they can’t get enough of their dance lessons and love to express their emotions while out on the dance floor.
Embodying aspects of ballet, jazz and acro, lyrical brings your child’s skills together in beautiful dance routines with an emotional connection to the lyrics of songs heard on your favourite playlist. (Students must be enrolled in at least one ballet class per week in order to enrol in Lyrical).
Our special needs dance class is held once per week at our Toronto dance studio.
In addition to this, we pair our special needs student with a ‘buddy’ who supports them during our mainstream dance lessons. We have found this brings benefits for all involved and helps us to achieve our mission of teaching with integrity and kindness.
